Dispute a Cash App Card Transaction

Notice an unexpected transaction on your Cash App Card or have an issue with a transaction you do recognize? Let us know so we can assist you with opening a dispute.

How do I file a dispute?

If you’ve already contacted the merchant and are unable to resolve a transaction, you can file a dispute. However, there are a few other things you should consider before filing to make the process go as smoothly as possible, which we outline below.

To file a dispute for a Cash App Card transaction in-app:

  1. Go to the Activity tab on your Cash App home screen

  2. Select the transaction in question and select the three dots (…) in the top right corner of the screen

  3. Select Need Help & Cash App Support

  4. Select Dispute this Transaction

If you have trouble with the form, you can call our Support team at 1 (800) 969-1940 and we can help you complete it over the phone.

Once you submit the form, our team will follow up on your claim via email. You can learn more about what happens after you dispute a transaction and how to check the status of your dispute here.

What transactions can I dispute?

You can dispute a completed card transaction that you did not participate in or that had an unexpected outcome. This includes:

  1. Unrecognized transactions

  2. Duplicate transactions

  3. Transactions for an incorrect amount

  4. Transactions in which you did not receive goods or services you paid for

  5. Recurring charges that continue after you cancel a subscription

When can I dispute a transaction?

You can dispute a card transaction once it is complete. You can view the status of a transaction in the Activity tab of your app by selecting the clock icon in the bottom-right corner of your Cash App home screen. Transactions on this screen are divided into “Pending” and “Completed” categories. Until the funds are captured by the merchant, the transaction will show up as “Pending” in your activity log, and it cannot be disputed. Pending transactions are typically captured within 10 business days. Once the transaction status updates to “Completed,” you may dispute it.

Transactions should be disputed within 60 days of the monthly statement on which the transaction appears. Monthly statements are issued within 5 business days of the end of the month. You can read more about viewing your monthly statement here.

What else should I do before disputing a transaction with Cash App?

You might be able to resolve your dispute more quickly by contacting the merchant. Merchants often can resolve a problem with a transaction quickly. However, you also may submit your dispute to Cash Support now.
