Cash App Unveils Next Story in "Cash App Communities" Series
The film highlights Freedom Fighting Missionaries' work and use of Cash App to support the Charlotte, NC community
December 20, 2024
Cash App has unveiled the next story in its "Cash App Communities" series highlighting Freedom Fighting Missionaries (FFM) – a Charlotte-based reentry organization that provides formerly incarcerated individuals or those involved in the criminal justice system with programs and funding needed to reintegrate into their communities. The series features real Cash App customers and their true stories of how Cash App is used for everything from basic needs to life-changing transactions.
“We could have never imagined that Cash App would help tell the story of how we advocate for justice-involved individuals in our community,” said Kenneth ‘Kenny’ Robinson, President and Founder of Freedom Fighting Missionaries. “We use the app daily to help our clients when they are experiencing an emergency and need immediate funds. We are truly grateful for Cash App’s support.”
In this film titled “Making the Best Out of a Second Chance,” a mother of eight named Keisha is re-entering society and reaches out to FFM for housing support and other essential services. The organization springs into action and instantly sends the necessary funds to Keisha’s Cash App account, allowing her to secure housing. This critical support marks the beginning of a transformative journey toward stability and hope for Keisha and her eight children.
"Cash App is committed to providing money management tools for those historically excluded from the financial system," said Catherine Ferdon, Chief Marketing Officer at Cash App. "Keisha's story illustrates the real-world impact of our mission, and we're proud to support her journey and the transformative work of Freedom Fighting Missionaries."
In 2023, FFM distributed over $300,000 to individuals in need, providing crucial assistance for rent, daily necessities, transportation and more.
The series and this story can be found on Cash App’s YouTube and social media channels.
