Inclusion & Community: Micah Hanna

My name is Micah Hanna, and I’m the Experience Operations Lead for St. Louis. I’ve been at Cash App for 8 months.

Community groups have always been really important to me. I come from a family of activists, so it’s just a passion of mine.

When I joined the Cash App team, I became a Black Square Association (BSA) lead here in St. Louis, making sure that the team feels really engaged, but I have been working with lots of global level projects as well, making sure that the Cash App team is aware of all of the community groups and different events that they have going on, seeing how individuals on the Cash App team can feel more included.

I was also lucky enough to be selected to go to AfroTech, a huge conference that we sponsor as a company.

On a personal and professional level, community groups are really beneficial.

I was able to meet a lot of people in all of the BSA community, St. Louis, New York, San Francisco, and I made some really great connections, not only on a professional level, but also on a personal level. Those were the first people that I reached out to when I found out I was coming to St. Louis.

I’m also involved with the Christian community, people that share the same beliefs you do. That’s really important!

Professionally, there’s a huge opportunity by joining community groups and getting involved, because you can meet people at all different departments and levels.

My parents raised myself and my siblings to put others above yourself, and it’s how I raised my daughter.

That contributes to my role as an Experience lead: how I can make Cash App employees want to come to work everyday, enjoy where they are, what they’re doing? That’s just at my core, that’s who I am and I was raised to be.
